Check Out The Tarot News

The latest edition of the Tarot News reports on the death of Hajo Banzhaf, one of the several authors who have written popular alternatives to the Aleister Crowley's "Book of Thoth". Banzhaf's approach was never intended to elucidate Crowley's ideas, and this is consistent with the cartofeminist agenda regarding the "patriarchal" or occult Tarots, which a certain group of women (and some men) sought to appropriate for a political and commercial agenda.

I'm interested in studying the Tarot. Can anyone give a recommendation for where to get a deck? Also, is there a particular deck which is most appropriate for someone who wants to start such a course of study?

I've been trying to read The Book of Thoth, but I get the feeling that actually having a deck in my hands is important.

Amazon is as good a place as any.

Here are some deck reviews. And yes, having a Thoth deck in your hands would greatly enhance your reading of "Book of Thoth".

Good luck.
